When do you need a legal paternity test?

What is chain of custody in DNA testing?
Chain of custody is a documented protocol that proves DNA samples were not tampered with between collection and analysis. It includes verified participant identity, witnessed sample collection, tamper-evident packaging, signed transfer logs, and AABB-accredited laboratory handling. Without an unbroken chain of custody, paternity test results are not admissible in U.S. courts.
