State law
Paternity law in Florida.
Florida's paternity statutes are codified in Chapter 742 of the Florida Statutes. A presumption of paternity attaches to children born during marriage. The Florida Department of Revenue Child Support Program coordinates testing for state-administered child support cases. Genetic testing under §742.12 is admissible in all Florida circuit and family courts when performed by an accredited laboratory. Florida provides a four-year statute of limitations for disestablishment of paternity under §742.18 in cases of fraud, mistake, or newly discovered evidence.
