How does an at-home paternity test work?
An at-home paternity test uses a buccal (cheek) swab to collect DNA samples privately. We ship a kit containing swabs for each participant, instructions, and a prepaid return mailer. You collect samples at home, mail them back, and receive results in 1 to 3 business days. Results are 99.99% accurate when collection instructions are followed correctly. At-home test results are not admissible in court.

How accurate are at-home paternity tests?
At-home paternity testing through Rapid Paternity Testing achieves 99.99% inclusion accuracy and 100% exclusion accuracy when collection instructions are followed correctly. All samples are processed at AABB-accredited laboratories using 20+ STR genetic markers, the same scientific process used for legal paternity testing. The difference is the chain-of-custody protocol, which is required for court but not for personal testing.

At-home vs. legal paternity testing.
Both tests use the same DNA science. The difference is the chain-of-custody protocol that makes results legally admissible.

How much does an at-home paternity test cost?
At-home kits range from $129 to $199 depending on participants and shipping. The price includes the kit, prepaid return mailer, lab analysis, and secure result delivery.
Peace-of-mind testing, is it right for you?
At-home testing makes sense for personal curiosity, family planning, or relationship resolution where no legal action is anticipated. It does not make sense for any situation that may end up in court, child support, custody, immigration, or birth certificate amendments. Legal testing is the better choice in those cases.
